BYUH volleyball team sweeps Cal Baptist
Shih Ting Chen had 22 kills and Erica Willes had 11 as No. 5 Brigham Young-Hawaii beat Cal Baptist 25-20, 25-18, 25-21 in Pacific West Conference women’s volleyball Saturday in Laie.
Ying Chun Chen had 38 assists and Brydgette Tatupu-Leopoldo had 17 digs for the Seasiders (15-1, 10-1). Kim McCalmont had 13 kills for the Lancers (14-7, 11-2).
» Kelli LeClair had 18 kills to help No. 25 Point Loma Nazarene sweep Hawaii Hilo 25-19, 25-21, 25-17 in Hilo. Heather Leavitt added 14 kills for Point Loma (18-4, 12-1), which lost its first PacWest match to BYUH on Friday. Marley Strand-Nicolaisen had 14 kills and 13 digs for Hilo (6-10, 1-10).
» Christy Cain had 12 kills to lead Azusa Pacific to a 25-18, 15-25, 25-22, 25-21 win over host Chaminade. Mattie Shelford and Lauren Edwards added 11 kills each for Azusa (14-6, 7-4). Kim Spring had 16 kills and Cassie Rushlow had 12 kills for the Silverswords (5-12, 2-10).
Vidal’s goal gives BYUH a soccer victory
Sydnee Vidal scored in the 85th minute to lift Brigham Young-Hawaii to a 1-0 victory over Fresno Pacific in Pacific West Conference women’s soccer Saturday in Laie.
It was Vidal’s first goal of the season for the Seasiders (4-4-2, 3-3-1). Fresno Pacific is now 6-5-1 and 4-3-1.
» The BYUH men’s soccer team beat Fresno Pacific 3-0 in Laie. Romy Lakip, Cam Neeley and Bent Jenson scored for the Seasiders (6-3-2, 4-2-1). Chris Pineda stopped five shots on goal from Fresno Pacific (8-4-1, 6-2-0).
» Moressa Lindsey scored in the 94th minute as the Hawaii Hilo women beat Dominican 2-1 in overtime in Hilo. Kristine Pasek also scored for Hilo (7-3-1, 5-3-0). Lauren Gollnick had a goal for Dominican (6-7-2).
» David Robinson scored in the 62nd minute to lift the Hawaii Hilo men to a 1-0 victory over Dominican. Hilo is now 4-6-1 and 2-5-1. Dominican is 4-9-2 and 2-6-1.
» Adriana Cortes and Jessica Santos scored in Notre Dame de Namur’s 2-0 win over host Chaminade (0-12, 0-9). NDNU improved to 5-8-1, 3-4-1.
