USC falls in poll rankings

USC's Nelson Agholor dove out of the reach of Hawaii's Mike Edwards, right, as George Daily-Lyles defended on the play during second-half action of a college football game between the Hawaii Warriors and the USC Trojans on Saturday.

Even the 49-10 victory over Hawaii Saturday wasn’t enough to keep Southern California from being overtaken by Alabama for No. 1 in this week’s Associated Press Top 25 football poll announced today.

Alabama, which beat Michigan, 41-14, replaced USC in the top spot receiving 45 first-place votes, an improvement of 28 from the previous week, compared to the Trojans’ 11.

Third-place Louisiana State received four first-place votes.

The AP said it was the 86th time in the 76-year history of the AP media poll that the top-ranked team won and dropped in the rankings.

Meanwhile, Boise State dropped out of the Top 25 after its loss to Michigan State.
