Escapee from Waiawa facility being sought
State sheriffs and the Honolulu police launched a search Saturday for Raphael Hernandez, an escapee from the Waiawa Correctional Facility.
Hernandez, 32, a minimum-security inmate, was last seen during the 4 a.m. head count Saturday. He was reported missing at the next head count at about 6 a.m.
He is 6 feet 6 inches tall, weighs 190 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes.
Hernandez is serving a five-year sentence for promotion of a dangerous drug. His sentence is scheduled to end March 30, 2016.
But he will face escape charges when he is captured, officials said.
