SkyVue observation wheel is unlikely to be completed

It looks like Las Vegas is big enough for only one big wheel. Recent reports paint a dismal picture of the prospects for a second giant observation wheel that was being built on the south end of the Strip. Work on the SkyVue wheel was halted several months ago and has not resumed due to financial problems and legal entanglements.

But while the completion of the SkyVue project now seems unlikely, Caesars Entertainment’s High Roller observation wheel at center- Strip continues to take shape and is on schedule for its 2014 debut as part of the Linq entertainment complex.

>> Last act: The Act, the mysterious after-hours cabaret/nightclub at the Venetian, closed abruptly last week. An offshoot of similar clubs in New York and London, The Act had been under fire from its landlord and gaming authorities over claims of behavior in violation of obscenity laws. No plans for the vacated space in the Canal Shoppes have been announced.

ANSWER: Former big-room headliner Pia Zadora has teamed with Frank Sinatra’s former musical director, Vincent Falcone, to perform on weekends at the long-running off-Strip restaurant Pierro’s.
