Strong quake in Gulf of California poses no tsunami threat to Hawaii
An earthquake of preliminary magnitude 6.5 struck the Gulf of California at 7:54 a.m. Hawaii time Saturday but poses no tsunami threat to Hawaii, according to officials at the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.
The temblor was centered 47 miles southwest of Etchoropo, Mexico at a depth of 5 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
No injuries were immediately reported.
