Isle woman indicted in assault on airplane
ANCHORAGE, Alaska » A federal grand jury in Anchorage has indicted a woman from Hawaii on a misdemeanor charge of assaulting a flight attendant.
U.S. Attorney Karen Loeffler says Kyong Cha Lee, 56, of Aiea struck the female flight attendant with both hands Aug. 19 during an Alaska Airlines flight from Hawaii to Anchorage.
Loeffler says Lee also used profane language to threaten the attendant.
Prosecutors say the maximum penalty for a conviction is six months in jail and a $5,000 fine.
The FBI and Anchorage airport police investigated the incident.
UH gets back some of its electrical power
Power was restored to the University of Hawaii-Manoa campus on Monday night, according to university officials.
An electrical failure that began at about 5:15 p.m. knocked out power to 13 buildings on the campus, prompting UH officials to cancel evening classes in the buildings.
In an email update, UH reported that power had been restored to all of the affected buildings.
A spokesman for the Hawaiian Electric Co. said the outage, which affecting the Moiliili area, was resolved at about 6 p.m.
UH cautioned people not to use elevators in the affected buildings.

Fisherman swept into sea is identified
Hawaii County police Monday identified Ian Tengan, 37, of Hilo as the fisherman who died Saturday when he was swept from a rocky shoreline near Pepeekeo.
A friend reported Tengan was swept away by rough waves and disappeared beneath the surf, said fire officials, who received the call for help at 3:09 p.m. Saturday.
Fire Department divers started a search and recovered Tengan’s body from an area off 23 Flats Beach near the 12-mile marker on Highway 19.
He was pronounced dead at 6:02 p.m. at Hilo Medical Center, police said.
Police have requested an autopsy.
Kauai to award $50,000 for recycling plans
The Kauai County Solid Waste Division is accepting grant applications for up to a total of $50,000 in projects that promote recycling and waste diversion.
County officials encourage nonprofit agencies and for-profit businesses to submit proposals for an array of projects.
Examples of eligible projects are educational or recognition programs, such as videos, websites or classroom presentations; creation of recycled products; or recycling or waste diversion programs not offered by the county, according to a county news release.
Applications are available on the county website at www.kauai.gov/recyclinggrants.
The deadline to turn in a grant application is 2 p.m. Oct. 15.
