Cal State Northridge finishes off sweep of Hawaii
Cal State Northridge vaulted itself into sole possession of second place in the Big West by completing a three-game sweep of Hawaii with a 10-5 victory on Sunday at Les Murakami Stadium.
Seven different Matadors scored as Cal State Northridge (22-17, 8-4) became the fourth team to sweep Hawaii (8-27, 3-9) this season.
Josh Goossen-Brown hit a three-run homer off Max Duval in the ninth inning and Alexis Mercado went 2-for-4 with a double, run and RBI to finish the series 7-for-13 with four RBIs.
Stephen Ventimilia went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs and Conner George went 2-for-3 with two runs scored for the Rainbows, who have lost 10 of 11.
Corey MacDonald (4-4) went eight innings, allowing nine hits and seven runs with two walks and four strikeouts.
Cal State Northridge led 5-4 with two outs in the eighth when William Colantono hit a fly ball deep to left that bounced off the glove of Kalei Hanawahine, allowing two runs to score.

Next up for the Rainbows is a three-game series beginning Friday against No. 4 Cal State Fullerton, which leads Cal State Northridge by two games for first place in the Big West.
