Farber received $5.7 million for second. At 23, Riess is the sixth consecutive main event winner to be under 25 years old.
>> Casino closes again: Casino MonteLago at Lake Las Vegas on the far east side of town has closed its doors again. The casino, which reopened in 2011 after closing for more than a year because of the economic downturn, is citing lease issues for the latest closure. No schedule for its reopening has been announced.
>> Mob Attraction closed: The interactive Mob Attraction at the Tropicana has closed. It’s the second closure for the museum, and it looks like this one is for good, also due to an expiring lease. The exhibit is rumored to be lining up a new home on the Strip, but no solid announcement has been made.
>> Super sushi: For what many are calling the best sushi in Las Vegas, and maybe the best on the West Coast, check out Kabuto. With fish flown in fresh twice a week, three chef’s choice menus priced at $48, $80 and $120 provide the same quality sushi and sashimi that you get in the country’s best sushi houses for about a quarter of the price.
Kabuto, which has no sign on the outside of the restaurant, is on Spring Mountain Road in a small food plaza about four miles west of the Strip.
