Prostitution inquiry ends in man’s arrest
A 34-year-old Palolo man is behind bars after a teenage girl reported that he sexually assaulted her in Waikiki Tuesday morning.
The 15-year-old said the attack took place at 3 a.m.
Police were conducting a prostitution investigation that resulted in the arrest, a police spokeswoman said.
The man, who lives on New Jersey Avenue, was arrested on Kaiulani Avenue about 1:35 a.m. Wednesday. He is being held pending counts of first-degree sexual assault and first-degree promotion of prostitution.

Nine Maui residents have been charged with gambling after police raided a house in Wailuku and found a card game in progress last week. The raid took place on Aug. 16 at a Kaikai Street address.
Khanhnha Vanhtha, 35, was charged with second-degree promoting gambling and possession of gambling device. His bail is $400.
The eight others were charged with gambling. They are Justin I. Chock, 21; Lyle Richards, 51; Scott Rosario, 42; Cary K. Rosario, 42; David P. Yokoyama, 24; Gavin C. Petrie, 45; Thomas J. Borges, 52; and Clyde M. Imai, 59. Their bail was set at $200 each.
