The next time you dream of sushi, you won’t have to leave the house to sate your appetite. Nobu has raised the bar on sushi-to-go with the debut of the Nobu Hand Roll Box, introduced in New York City last month and now available in Honolulu.
The elegant box includes all the ingredients to create Nobu hand rolls for eight to 12 people, covering both seafood lovers and vegetarians.
The box is a treat for small company meetings, bridal and groom parties and other small gatherings. It can be picked up at the restaurant or delivered, and if you don’t have the technique for perfecting a roll, you’ll get a quick demo. Consider it a master class in Nobu style.
Although the seafood may vary in availability, you can generally expect to see the basics: ahi, salmon, shrimp, whitefish and more, along with tamago, shiso, asparagus, cucumber, nori and condiments of spicy sesame sauce, wasabi, ginger and soy sauce. You won’t have to run home to cook rice either. That’s provided, too.
The box is $550. If you don’t want fishy fingers, they’ll lend you a hired hand, starting at $350.
Nobu is in the Parc Hotel in Waikiki. Call 237-6999.
