Man dies after Kalihi assault; 2 men in police custody
Honolulu police detectives have opened a homicide investigation after a man was killed in an apparent early-morning assault in Kalihi, police said.
Two men are in custody as police continue to investigate reports that a group of men were seen chasing a single male, police said.
Paramedics were called to Halona Street at 3 a.m. and treated a man, described to be in his 20s to 30s, for a trauma wound. The victim died at the scene at 3:40 a.m., Emergency Medical Services said.
Police closed off the area from the Houghtailing offramp on H-1 westbound to Halona Street, and Kohou Street to Houghtailing Street as they investigated.
The roads were closed around 3:52 a.m. and reopened four hours later.
