Dessert fans, rejoice! After an eight-month hiatus, The Little Oven has reopened its doors at 1467 S. King St., still with Joyce Harada’s signature mix of dessert specialties from both East and West, with a heavy dose of nostalgia.
Expect chalkboard specials to change frequently, but recent hits have included dense, moist Brownie Fluff ($6.95) wearing a cozy blanket of homemade, toasted marshmallow fluff, for lovers of decadence. Then there’s the sweet-sour punch of Meyer lemon and ume kanten ($6.95, at right), with the agar flowers served in a glass with assorted fresh fruit and mochi drops. The kanten was my favorite dessert during an evening of indulgence.
That definitely was not an easy choice to make considering options of frozen hot chocolate, mini sundaes, white peach cobbler and pocket pies ($6.95) filled with a choice of Kula strawberries, organic plums, apples or blueberries.
The Little Oven is open from about 7 to 11:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays only. For updates and bridal queries, visit www.facebook.com/LilOven.
