1st cabin attached to giant Vegas Ferris wheel
LAS VEGAS >> A giant Ferris wheel on the Las Vegas Strip has reached its world-record height after crews attached the first cabin to the rim.
The Las Vegas High Roller measures 550 feet tall when the spherical glass pod that was attached Wednesday rotates to the top. The ride is located in Caesars Entertainment’s new, $550 million Linq development.
Crews took special care in moving the 22-ton cabin from its assembly warehouse to the construction site 10 miles away. Troopers from the Nevada Highway Patrol escorted the pod on its slow, three-hour journey.
Caesars officials say they’ll be attaching 27 more cabins to the wheel’s rim over the next two months.
Each can hold 40 passengers.
