For the torchlight parade on Saturday, paddlers will gather at Hale Halawai County Pavilion on the corner of Hualalai Road and Alii Drive, and make their way down Alii Drive through Kailua-Kona town to Kailua Pier. Over the years, about 500 paddlers have participated in the parade. Paddlers will race in double-hull canoes, below, Sunday, Sept. 2.
