Closed since July 1, On On Chinese Restaurant at 1110 McCully St. has been sold to Honolulu-based Red Dragon Holdings LLC for an undisclosed sum, according to an announcement from Nora Bland, Sofos Realty vice president for investment sales and leasing.
The company that bought the restaurant is led by partners Qiao Chen and Dora Woo, who could not be reached.
The restaurant will open Tuesday for breakfast, lunch and dinner, according to a hostess. It will serve Cantonese and Northern Chinese cuisine, she said.
On On seller Cowan Wong still owns Aina Haina Chop Suey, in Aina Haina Shopping Center. The restaurant was formerly known as Duck Yun Chinese Restaurant, but "we change the name, that’s all," he said.
He decided to sell On On because "I’m getting old already. …I’m over 75."
Wong and his family owned On On at McCully for 12 years and had owned On On Chinese Restaurant at 909 Kapahulu Ave. for some 20 years before he sold it to Albert Lum’s Family Dragon Inc., Wong said. A sign on the McCully restaurant earlier this summer indicated it was closed for renovation.
