Woman held in Hawaii island stabbing case

Hawaii County police arrested a 45-year-old woman this morning after she allegedly stabbed her boyfriend.

The Hawaii Fire Department arrived at the scene on Ainaloa Boulevard in Pahoa just before 5:30 a.m., a spokesman for the department said.

Police said they determined through witness interviews and a victim statement that the woman stabbed her boyfriend with a “large kitchen knife” after she and her boyfriend got into an argument.

Firefighters arrived to find the victim on the shoulder of the street with stab wounds to his abdomen and wrist. The man was treated and transported to Hilo Medical Center awake and verbally responsive, officials said.

The woman was subsequently arrested on suspicion of first degree assault and abuse of a family member.

Police said the case is under investigation.
