Le captures OCC women’s tourney
In her first tournament using Stableford scoring, 15-year-old Kristen Le won the Oahu Country Club Women’s Invitational on Tuesday.
Le, an OCC member, fired a career-best 2-under-par 73. In the tournament’s modified Stableford format, her round of two birdies, an eagle, two bogeys and 13 pars was worth 38 points.
In Monday’s opening round, Le had five birdies and nine bogeys, collecting 32 points.
Her 70 total points gave the Punahou junior the overall title. The format awards one point for a bogey, two for par, three for birdie and four for eagle.
Defending champion Mira Han collected 62 points to win the championship flight and come in second to Le.
The overall net champion was B.B. Harvey with 79 net Stableford points.
Other flight winners were Roxanne Okazaki, with 78 net points in the A flight; Jaye Gray with 69 in the B flight, and Jo-Ann Chun with 75 in the C flight.
