Hawaii Meth Project joins largest drug-fighting nonprofit
The Hawaii Meth Project is among six state Meth Projects that have joined the Partnership at Drugfree.org, the nation’s largest nonprofit organization working to reduce teen substance abuse.
The New York-based Partnership will take ownership of the Meth Project’s creative and intellectual properties, including its research methodologies, and the website MethProject.org.
The individual state Meth Projects in Hawaii, as well as Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming will become local members of The Partnership at Drugfree.org, and will continue operating as independent organizations under The Partnership’s umbrella.
The Meth Project has had far-reaching influence on public and private campaigns aimed at improving public health, the Partnership said, in a statement. Meth Project founder Thomas Siebel, a Silicon Valley entrepreneur, was named the third-most effective philanthropist in the world by Barron’s magazine in recent rankings.
The Hawaii Meth Project board of directors named David Earles as executive director in February.
