Suspect indicted in DUI fatality
An Oahu grand jury on Wednesday indicted a 20-year-old Honolulu man in the death of an 18-year-old Mililani man in an alleged drunken-driving incident in Village Park.
Bryson T. Oshiro is charged with first-degree negligent homicide, drunken driving and driving without a license. He is free on $50,000 bail.
Police said Oshiro was drunk when his vehicle struck Orlando Vallejo Jr. early Saturday morning.
Vallejo was standing outside a vehicle on Kupuna Loop near Kahakea Street at 12:45 a.m.
Vallejo was taken to a hospital in serious condition, but his condition worsened and he died at the hospital, police said.
Bank robbery suspect caught
Police arrested a 30-year-old Wahiawa man suspected of robbing a Bank of Hawaii on Tuesday in Mililani.
Police said the man entered the bank at 95-211 Kipapa Drive about 1 p.m. and demanded money from a teller while implying that he was armed with a dangerous instrument. Fearing for her safety, the teller gave the man an undisclosed amount of cash, and he fled.
Officers arrested the man at 3:35 p.m. Wednesday at a beach park in Haleiwa. He was being held pending charges of first-degree robbery.
