Li‘ili‘i named player of the week
UH sophomore Leisha Li‘ili‘i was named the Big West Softball Field Player of the Week on Monday.
The Castle graduate hit .750 (6-for-8) with two home runs and nine RBIs during last week’s Pepsi Malihini Kipa Aloha Tournament.
Li‘ili‘i moved into the team lead with 16 RBIs and raised her batting average to .327.
Kovalyov, Majam get scholar-athlete honors
Hawaii’s Dmytro Kovalyov and Kelly Majam were named Big West Conference male and female Scholar Athletes of the Year, the school announced Monday.
Kovalyov, a senior member of the Warriors tennis team, earned first-team all-conference honors in doubles and second-team all-conference honors in singles during the 2012 season.
Majam, a senior center fielder for the Rainbow Wahine softball team, broke the UH career home run record in her junior season. She earned all-conference honors three times and was named NFCA all-region twice in her career.
Zarkovic earns another MPSF award
Hawaii freshman outside hitter Sinisa "Siki" Zarkovic earned his second Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Volleyball Player of the Week honor following his performance in the Warriors’ two-match sweep of USC.
Zarkovic accumulated a two-match hitting clip of .429 (28-4-56) in the Warriors’ five-set wins over USC last week.
The Warriors will play a two-match MPSF series at Cal Baptist this weekend in Riverside, Calif.
