Magnitude 5.2 earthquake hits Taiwan at 6.55 p.m.
A magnitude 5.2 earthquake struck Taiwan’s eastern coast at 6:55 p.m. local time, the island’s Central Weather Bureau said on its website. There were no immediate reports of damage.
Buildings in the capital Taipei shook at about the same time. It was 9.6 kilometers north west of Hualien County at a 21.5-kilometer of depth, the bureau said.
