Kyson Donahue homered for the second straight game and drove in five runs to lead the Oahu Shockers to a 14-2 win over Maryland on Monday in the Cal Ripken World Series in Aberdeen, Md.

The game ended after the top of the fourth inning due to the mercy rule.

Oahu evened its record at 1-1 in pool play. The top three teams in each division advance to the seeded rounds beginning Thursday.

"We had our backs against the wall and the kids responded well," Oahu coach Gary Ichimura said.

Donahue also pitched three scoreless innings and didn’t allow a hit while striking out four to earn the win.

Ryne Oshiro went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and Matthew Inaba added three RBIs.

Oahu scored five in the second and nine in the third to put the game away quickly.

Shea Yamaguchi hit an RBI single and Inaba walked with the bases loaded before Donahue’s grand slam gave Oahu a 12-0 lead in the third.

Jarron Carter added two hits and two RBIs as nine different Shockers scored at least one run.

Maryland dropped to 2-1 in the American Division with one game to play.

Oahu will play Longview (Wash.), the Pacific Northwest regional champion, today at 9:30 a.m. Hawaii time.
