Chaminade headed to West Regional

Chaminade is going to the NCAA Division II West Regional in men’s basketball.

The Silverswords (19-10) are the eighth seed and play top-seeded Western Washington (27-2) when the tournament begins in Bellingham, Wash., this week. The start date has not been determined.

Dixie State hammers UHH in baseball

Mitch Manning homered and drove in five runs to power Dixie State to a 15-0 win over Hawaii Hilo in the first game of a baseball doubleheader Sunday in Hilo.

John Abreu and Samuel Kim had two hits each for the Vulcans (6-15, 5-10 Pacific West Conference). The Red Storm are 10-3 and 3-2. The nightcap was not done at press time.
