UH baseball: Rainbows handle Shockers in series opener
Conner George hit a three-run triple in support of starter Connor Little, who worked eight innings of one-run ball in Hawaii’s 6-1 win over Wichita State on Wednesday night at Les Murakami Stadium.
Little (1-3) allowed seven hits and issued one walk with four strikeouts to pick up his first win of the season for the Rainbows (3-15), who won consecutive games for the first time this year.
Stephen Ventimilia reached base three times and scored once for Hawaii, which played for the first time since beating Gonzaga 2-0 eight days ago.
Andre Real went 2-for-4 with a run and Kaeo Aliviado tripled and scored for UH, which had seven hits.
Tobin Mateychick (2-2) gave up four runs on three hits in 3 1/3 innings with four walks to take the loss for Wichita State (11-9).
Game 2 of the series is Thursday night at 6:35.
