Nowhere for ‘Bows to go but up
Let’s hear it for the University of Hawaii Rainbows baseball team, which is on a game streak that’s now up to 8.
Oh wait, that’s bad news, because it’s a losing streak — the longest in a single season since the team lost its last eight games in 2002.
If you count their last two games from 2012, it’s a 10-game losing streak.
But don’t lose hope — not yet. There’s still a lot of season left, and the ‘Bows actually proved tough to beat in their first two series, against Oregon and Rice, both of which were highly ranked.
So now the team goes on a road trip to play at the UNLV Rebel Classic in Las Vegas. It will face Loyola Marymount and Bradley, neither of which are ranked.
Go ‘Bows!
Company lives up to its mission
Employees of The Cheesecake Factory were heartbroken on Feb. 1 when a kitchen fire caused $2.5 million in damage, but there was a silver lining: The company generously continued to pay regular wages to its 401 workers at the popular Waikiki restaurant, which reopened Monday.
The restaurant at the Royal Hawaiian Center reopened with a traditional Hawaiian blessing.
On its website, the popular nationwide chain says, "We embrace sustainability" which "informs how we operate in relation to the environment as well as our relationship with the food we serve, the people we employ and the communities we are a part of."
Indeed.
