UH baseball: Gonzaga rips Hawaii 7-1
Marco Gonzales threw eight innings of four-hit ball against Hawaii for the second straight year to lead Gonzaga to a 7-1 win over the Rainbows on Friday night at Les Murakami Stadium.
Gonzales (3-1), a preseason first-team All-American and reigning West Coast Conference pitcher of the year, struck out five and didn’t allow a walk.
Unlike last year, Hawaii managed a run off Gonzales when Pi’ikea Kitamura hit a one-out single up the middle to score Andre Real in the fourth inning.
Brock Slavin hit a two-run double in a three-run second inning for Gonzaga (7-4-1).
Connor Little (0-3) allowed five runs on 10 hits in seven innings to take the loss for Hawaii, which dropped to 1-13 overall and 0-9 at home.
