Alvarez takes bronze at MPSF meet
Hawaii senior Amanda Alvarez captured the bronze medal in the triple jump with a distance of 40 feet at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday in Seattle.
Hawaii finished 12th out of 14 teams with 18 points.
Rainbow Wahine sweep platform diving
Hawaii took the top three places in platform diving to top off an undefeated run at the MPSF championships Saturday in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Aimee Harrison won with a 253.50 score, and she was followed by Rainbow Wahine teammates Lauren Hall (229.25) and Genevieve Bradley (218.10).
Harrison, who won the 3-meter event on Friday, was named women’s diver of the year. Hawaii’s Mike Brown and Anita Rossing were named women’s co-coaches of the year.
Luke Hayes also took two diving titles, winning both the 3-meter and platform diving events on the men’s side.
» Jasmine Alkhaldi won the women’s 100-yard free event with an NCAA B-cut time of 49.65, and P.J. Gabayeron placed first in the men’s 100-yard breast with an NCAA B-cut time of 1:58.63 as the UH swimming teams competed at the MPSF championships in Monterey Park, Calif, over the weekend.
The Wahine team of Alkhaldi, Katie Stover, Sofia Mustelin and Rachel Cote won the women’s 400-yard relay in a meet-record time of 3:20.10.
