Golden Oldies Hockey Festival Sunday
The 16th Golden Oldies Hockey Festival, featuring 60 field hockey teams from 15 countries, including Scotland, South Africa and Argentina, will be held for the first time in Hawaii.
The event kicks off Sunday with a welcome reception and a parade of nations beginning at 4 p.m. at the Kapiolani Park Bandstand. Play runs from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Teams feature players ages 35 through 70-and-older. After the Hawaii stop, the Golden Oldies Hockey moves on to Leipzig in Germany in 2015.

Archery tournaments set for this month
The Aloha State Archery Associations hosts its 600-round tournament on Sept. 21 at the Central Oahu Regional Park’s Waipio Archery Range, one of two archery events this month.
Registration and bow check is from 7 a.m. through 8 a.m. with competition at 9 a.m. Archers must be current NFAA members to qualify for awards. Entry fees are $10 for ages 11 and under, $20 for 12 and over. For information, contact Danelle Pulawa at 833-8731 or email alohastate2012@gmail.com.
Also scheduled is the Sept. 28 Hawaii State 3D Tournament at Pu’u Kapolei Archery Range. Registration is from 7 a.m. until 9 a.m. for the event hosted by the Bushwackers Archery Club. Tennis event benefit for children’s cancer
Entries are now open for the sixth Hawaii Children’s Cancer Foundation Tennis Tournament scheduled for Oct. 14 at Moanalua High School.
Beginner (2.5) and Intermediate (3.0-3.5) divisions play in the morning, with Juniors and the Advanced division starting at 1:30 p.m., after lunch.
Entry fee is $30, which includes lunch and a shirt. Format is round-robin doubles. Players do not need a partner to participate. Entry deadline is Sept. 30.

Cobley wins 30th Evans cycling race
Dan Cobley of California won the 30th Dick Evans Memorial Road Race by 16 seconds on Sept. 1, besting a field of 101 other cyclists in the 112-mile perimeter ride around Oahu.
Cobley, from Hermosa Beach, broke away from an elite pack of six riders on the climb up Makapu’u, crossing the finish line at Kalama Valley Shopping Center in 5 hours, 14 minutes and 41 seconds in his debut in the event. Big Orange Cycling swept the top three places, with Cobley followed by Peter Lombard (5:14:57) and Hawaii’s Jason Smith (5:15:04).
Less than a minute separated the top seven cyclists with Hawaii’s Eric Kollai placing fourth, a second behind Smith. Hawaii’s Ray Brust was fifth for the second consecutive year (5:15:10), his seventh consecutive top-five finish.
Hawaii’s Tim Marr won the "King of the Mountain" portion of the race that traversed Kunia Road. Marr was ninth overall in 5:19:16.
The first female was Chiyo Lombard-Hussie of Big Orange (5:20:23), 19th overall. Patricia Jennings was the top finisher from Hawaii (6:07:46), placing 54th overall.
