SAN DIEGO >> Former University of Hawaii cornerback Mike Edwards ran the 40-yard dash in 4.42 seconds at today’s Pro Day on the San Diego State campus.

Edwards’ mark was hand-timed by three of the four NFL scouts in attendance, monitoring UH’s speed drills.

In all, there were more than 50 scouts attending the joint combine-like workout for former UH and San Diego State athletes.

Edwards was electronically timed in 4.56 at last month’s NFL combine in Indianapolis.

He had hoped to run a sub-4.5 40.

Edwards had difficulty warming up and passed on his first two attempts.

After the other UH players completed their runs, Edwards made his first attempt.
