No. 10 Hawaii sweeps Portland State in volleyball

Senior hitter Emily Hartong had match-highs of 10 kills and 13 digs in leading No. 10 Hawaii to a 25-21, 25-20, 25-14 sweep of Portland State tonight in an Outrigger Hotels & Resorts Volleyball Challenge match at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Senior libero Ali Longo added 11 digs and junior middle Kalei Adolpho had 10 kills with no errors in 14 swings for the Rainbow Wahine (6-1, 1-0 OHRVC). A turnstile crowd of 4,138 (5,856 tickets) saw Aldolpho in on all six of Hawaii’s blocks in the 99-minute victory.

In today’s earlier match, Arizona defeated Northwestern 25-22, 25-27, 25-20, 25-10.

Arizona (6-1, 1-0) meets Portland State (3-5, 0-1) in Friday’s 5 p.m. match followed Hawaii against Northwestern (4-3, 01).

It was the third double-double on the season for Hartong.

The Vikings got nine kills from Kaeli Patton. Katie O’Brien was in on five blocks as Portland State outblocked Hawaii 9-6.
