Hilo splits with Dixie State in softball
Vanessa Salinas tossed a five-hitter and Brittany Huff had two hits and two runs batted in as Hawaii Hilo defeated Dixie State 5-0 in the first game of a Pacific West Conference doubleheader in Hilo on Thursday.
In the second game, the Red Storm (12-7, 3-3) scored single runs in the sixth and seventh innings to rally past Hilo (14-12, 5-3) and Salinas 2-1.
Fujikawa tied for sixth on eGolf Tour
A delay for heavy frost prevented the eGolf Tour’s Irish Creek Classic from finishing a second straight day, but Honolulu’s Tadd Fujikawa got in a 2-under-par 69 and is tied for sixth in Kannapolis, N.C. Fujikawa opened with an eagle, holing out from the fairway on the 406-yard par-4 first.
The Moanalua graduate is at 1-under 141 after 36 holes. He it trying to win his first eGolf Tour title since claiming the 2010 eGolf Tour Championship.
Adam Stephenson (71–140) is the clubhouse leader.
This morning, 71 players will try to finish their second round. The field will be cut to the low 49 and ties for the final two rounds, with the third round starting at noon local time.
