Man, 27, held in Nanakuli stabbings

Police arrested a 27-year-old Makaha man Saturday morning after a stabbing left a 15-year-old boy and a woman injured in Nanakuli.

Police said the man stabbed the boy after a fight broke out between several people about 4 a.m. The woman was also stabbed.

Officers found the man a short distance away and arrested him at Helelua Street and Farrington Highway for investigation of two counts of second-degree attempted murder. He remained at the police cell block awaiting charges Saturday.

An Emergency Medical Services supervisor said the boy was taken to the hospital in serious condition and the woman was taken with minor injuries to a hospital in Waianae.

A witness said the incident happened in a parking lot of a townhouse complex on Helelua.

The boy, who lives nearby, was stabbed in the back when he tried to help a girl who was being attacked by an older male during a fight, the witness said.

“I never know he had one stab wound till later,” the witness said.

The three people attacking the boy later fled, he said. A woman who was with the attacker was cut on the lower leg and had to get eight stitches before she was released from the hospital, the witness said.

“She went dig out with that crowd,” he said. “She was in the way, she got stabbed, too. It was pretty crazy.”
