Speeding motorcyclist critically injured after crashing on Sand Island Parkway
A 27-year-old Honolulu man suffered critical injuries Saturday afternoon when he lost control of his speeding motorcycle and crashed on Sand Island Parkway, police said.
At about 3:40 p.m., the man was driving a 2006 Kawasaki motorcycle eastbound on Sand Island Parkway when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a street sign and a street light post just east of Training Access Road, according to the police report.
He suffered head and internal injuries and was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
The driver appeared to be speeding when he crashed, police said. He was wearing a helmet.
Police contraflowed traffic on Sand Island Parkway for about an 90 minutes as they responded to the emergency and investigated the accident.
