Donna Leong, chief legal officer for the Outrigger hotel chain, has been nominated by Mayor Kirk Caldwell to be the city’s top civil attorney.
Leong was a partner in the law firm Cades Schutte LLP before joining Outrigger Enterprises in May 2006. Born and raised in Honolulu, Leong received her law degree from the University of Washington and her undergraduate degree from Stanford University.
Her nomination to be city corporation counsel is subject to confirmation of the City Council.
Caldwell had previously nominated David Arakawa, who served as corporation counsel under former Mayor Jeremy Harris. Arakawa withdrew for personal reasons shortly after his appointment was announced last month.
