Hawaii robotics teams make it to VEX World Championships
Twenty-three Hawaii middle- and high school VEX Robotics teams have qualified to compete at the VEX World Championships in California in April.
Teams progressed to the next level by winning various categories in the VEX Pan-Pacific Championships Saturday at the Hawaii Convention Center, as well as at previous meets.
Saturday’s tournament champions were Waiakea High School, Hilo High School from Hawaii island and Mililani High School, on Oahu.
The competition included 104 teams from Hawaii, the mainland, China and Taiwan.
Hawaii teams going to the VEX World Championships in California April 17 through 20 include the tournament winners as well as Waianae High School, McKinley High School, Waialua High & Intermediate School, Highlands Intermediate School, Kealakehe High School, Kohala High School, Pearl City High School, Punahou School, Iolani School, Kaiser High School and a home-schooled team.
Some schools will be sending multiple teams to the competition.
