Injured hiker rescued from Kauai trail
A 33-year-old hiker from Seattle was injured Saturday while hiking along Kauai’s Hanakapiai Trail, county officials said.
Rescuers located the visitor about 1/4 mile from Hanakapiai falls after they were told around 5 p.m. that he had possibly broken his ankle, officials said.
A rescue specialist airlifted the man back to a landing zone where he was loaded in another helicopter and flown to Lihue Airport.
Medics at the airport took him to Wilcox Hospital.
