Assault on police officer leads to arrest
An 18-year-old man was arrested Saturday night in Waikiki after assaulting an on-duty police officer, police said.
Police said the first-degree assault happened at about 9:30 p.m. while the officer was "engaged in the performance of duty."
The suspect was being held pending investigation.
Man misses pool in leap from building
A 20-year-old Honolulu man was taken to the hospital in critical condition early Sunday morning after he attempted to jump into a pool from the fourth floor of a UH-area apartment building, police said.
Police said the man made the jump at about 2:40 a.m. at the Kalo Terrace Student Suites, one block from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, in front of two witnesses and landed on the pool deck.
Motorcyclist hospitalized after accident
A 20-year-old woman was taken to the hospital in serious condition Sunday afternoon after she was thrown from a motorcycle in Kaneohe, according to Emergency Medical Services.
The incident happened on Kamehameha Highway near Luluku Road at 1:57 p.m.
No other information was immediately available.
2 teenagers nabbed in Kalihi store robbery
Police arrested two teens Saturday on suspicion of first-degree robbery at a Kalihi store.
Police said a 17-year-old boy was allegedly hiding items in a duffle bag at 11 a.m. and was confronted by a 49-year-old store employee.
The boy tried to flee using physical force against the man and another store employee, police said.
During a struggle, the boy pulled out a pocketknife, but the two store employees were able to disarm him, police said.
A second suspect, an 18-year-old Maili man, tried to pull the first employee away from the suspect.
The employees called police, and officers arrested the two on suspicion of first-degree robbery.
Police later released them pending investigation.
Man charged in wake of choking incident
Prosecutors have charged a 33-year-old Mililani man who allegedly choked a woman until she passed out.
Police arrested the man Wednesday on suspicion of felony abuse of a household member.
He and a woman were arguing late Wednesday night at a Honolulu address when he allegedly choked the woman until she lost consciousness, police said.
He was charged Friday.
