Moore surfs into quarterfinals in France
Hawaii’s Carissa Moore won her first- and third-round heats in the Roxy Pro France surf contest in Capbreton, France, on Tuesday.
Moore, fresh off a win in the U.S. Open of Surfing, kept the roll going by dominating her morning battle, racking up two excellent scores, including a near-perfect 9.43 out of a possible 10. She survived a last-minute comeback from France’s Pauline Ado in the afternoon to advance into the quarters.
The ASP Women’s World Championship Tour event continues today, surf permitting.
Moore, ranked No. 1 on the tour, can wrap up the world title with a victory in the event and if No. 2 Tyler Wright loses in the quarterfinals.
Moore won her first world title in 2011.
