UH Hilo volleyball team improves to 2-0
Marley Strand-Nicolaisen had 20 kills and Kyndra Trevino-Scott added 10 to lead the Hawaii Hilo women’s volleyball team to a 25-22, 26-24, 25-20 victory over Alaska Anchorage on Saturday in Hilo.
Sienna Davis provided 29 assists, Strand-Nicolaisen posted three aces and Trevino-Scott was in on four blocks as the freshman trio helped the Vulcans improve to 2-0.
Julia Mackey led the Seawolves (1-2) with 11 kills.
» At McCabe Gym, Kapiolani Rapoza pounded out 18 kills as Chaminade earned its first win of the season, beating Alaska Fairbanks 20-25, 25-17, 28-26, 25-14.
Kim Spring added 12 kills for the Silverswords (1-1). The Nanooks fell to 0-3.
Utsugi named HPU women’s golf coach
Hawaii Pacific announced Saturday that Jim Utsugi will take over as women’s golf coach.
Utsugi, a graduate of ‘Iolani School, was most recently head coach of the Hawaii Baptist varsity program.
