Motorcyclist dies after crash on Kalanianaole Highway
A Kapolei man who was ejected from his motorcycle on Kalanianaole Highway Tuesday evening has died, police said.
The 52-year-old man was taken to Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition after he lost control of his blue 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle while heading east on the highway around 6:20 p.m. He was later pronounced dead.
Police said the man sideswiped a woman driving in the westbound lanes near Halona Blow Hole after he lost control of the motorcycle. He was not wearing a helmet.
The 30-year-old Waimanalo woman driving a 2007 Toyota Camry was not injured.
Speed does appear to be a factor in the crash, police said.
Police closed Kalanianaole Highway between Halona Blow Hole and Lanai Lookout until around 10:30 p.m. to investigate the crash.
