Kids’ story time will teach storm prep
A special Hurricane Preparedness Family Storytime will be offered at the Hawaii State Library at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Edna Allyn Room for Children.
The free event is designed for children ages 3 to 5, accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Michael Cantin of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration will discuss hurricane preparedness and read "The 3 ‘Io Brothers and the Big Bad Hurricane," a children’s book created by the National Weather Service, NOAA’s Sea Grant program and the University of Hawaii to educate youngsters about hurricane safety. The Weather Service distributed a copy of the book to every public library in the state.
Contact the library as soon as possible if a sign-language interpreter or other special accommodation is needed. The Hawaii State Library is at 478 S. King St. For more information, call 586-3510.
