UNLV handed Hawaii its worst loss in four years, pounding out 18 hits for the second straight day to hammer the Rainbows, 14-1, on Monday at Wilson Stadium in Las Vegas.

Joey Armstrong cleared the bases with a double during a nine-run sixth inning in which UNLV sent 14 men to the plate.

Matt Cooper (0-2) allowed four runs on eight hits in five innings with three walks and six strikeouts to take the loss for Hawaii (1-12).

UNLV (10-3) rocked sophomore reliever Lawrence Chew for seven runs on five hits in 2/3 innings.

Pi’ikea Kitamura and Andre Real had two hits for Hawaii, which returns home to host Gonzaga for the first of a five-game series on Friday.

UNLV outscored Hawaii 26-5 in two games.

UH lost by at least 13 runs for the first time since a 17-2 defeat to Arizona State in April of 2009.
