Former UTEP assistant expected to be named new UH football coach

It appears former Texas-El Paso assistant coach Aaron Price will be joining the Hawaii football program.

Price was with the Miners for nine years, the past five as offensive coordinator. His duties included play-calling, and coaching the quarterbacks and special teams.

Price’s tenure at UTEP ended after the 2012 season when his father, Mike Price, retired as the Miners’ head coach.

Mike Price and UH coach Norm Chow are close friends. They run pro-set offenses that have similar schemes.

Aaron Price was a kicker at Washington State. He played briefly in the Canadian Football League and World League before pursuing a coaching career.

He was a graduate assistant at Washington State for two years. He then coached the quarterbacks and kickers at Idaho State, the special teams at Cal Poly, and quarterbacks and kickers at Missouri Western State.

Price has coached under his father the past 14 seasons.
