Police are investigating a former Kamehameha Schools high school teacher. An attorney says the allegations against the teacher may be of a sexual nature.
Kamehameha Schools spokeswoman Marsha Bolson said Wednesday the matter was turned over to police at the end of last week, but would not disclose the allegations.
Attorney Michael Green said he represents a student and his parents who will be filing a criminal complaint with police by Monday, but he would not say what the alleged crimes are.
He said the school interviewed "a number of students for five hours without their parents present."
From the connotation of the questions, the "school has indicated to the children it had to do with inappropriate sexual contact on the part of the teacher," Green said.
He said the school questioned the students about improper touching, videos and photographs.
Green said Kamehameha Schools went into the teacher’s home and removed items.
He said he has reason to believe those items were turned over to police and that the items might corroborate an invasion of privacy, might include video and might show someone in the shower.
The teacher has declined comment.
Bolson said the teacher is no longer employed by Kamehameha Schools but declined to say whether he was fired or voluntarily left.
She said, "Any people that we believe were involved, we have had conversations with them. We have notified folks."
Honolulu Police Department spokeswoman Michelle Yu said police are investigating the matter, but the teacher has been neither arrested nor charged.
