3 arrested in Chinatown gambling raid
Police arrested three men and seized six electronic gaming machines Friday night in a raid on an alleged gambling room in Chinatown.
Officers served a search warrant about 9:30 p.m. at Kathy’s Flowers & Leis at 1020 Smith St. and found three men gambling inside, police said.
Police said the flower shop was a front for the illegal activity and didn’t have a working cash register. The flower shop had snacks and drinks for sale, but didn’t have any flowers.The gambling room was behind a door in the flower shop, police said.
The three men arrested were cited for gambling, a misdemeanor. A 43-year-old Chinatown man and a 46-year-old Iwilei man were being held on $500 bail, while a 40-year-old Kalihi man was being held on $250 bail.
