Kids can register for the second annual Hawaii Junior Golf Day at hsjga.org. It is co-sponsored by the Hawaii State Junior Golf Association and Aloha Section PGA. The first event drew 700.
The free “introductory golf experience” will be March 9, at 13 courses statewide. The first 40 to register online for each site receive a tee gift.
Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. at each site. Clinics conducted by PGA professionals will be from 9-11 a.m. Emphasis will be on fun, with nutrition, etiquette and the role of other sports in golf discussed. Age-appropriate equipment will be provided by the US Kids Clubs and SNAG (Starting New at Golf) companies.
All children and parents attending get the “Roadmap to Junior Golf,” an online resource that provides information and contacts on educational and competitive programs in the state.
Participating courses are Princeville Makai and Puakea on Kauai, Dunes at Maui Lani, Wailea Emerald and Ka‘anapali on Maui, Hilo Muni, Makalei and Waikoloa Village on Hawaii island and Hawaii Kai, Hawaii Prince, Ko‘olau, Ko Olina and Turtle Bay on Oahu.
