A woman died after the motorcycle she was driving struck a car as it turned into a driveway in Makiki on Sunday afternoon, police said.
Paramedics took the woman, 32, in "extremely critical condition" to a hospital, where she died.
The 1 p.m. collision happened near 1511 Thurston Ave.
Police believe the woman was heading east with a group of at least three other motorcyclists. A black Dodge Charger, an off-duty taxicab, was turning into a driveway from the westbound lane.
Police are unsure whether speeding was involved, but said visibility may have been a factor because the motorcyclist was coming up a slight hill.
"When you come up, it’s a bit of a blind spot until you hit the crest, and that’s where the car was turning," said Traffic Division Lt. Robert Towne.
The driver of the Dodge had minor injuries from broken glass but refused treatment. There was extensive damage to the passenger-side door.
The death was the 13th traffic fatality of the year on Oahu, compared with 16 for the same period last year, police said.
