Island Air says it expects no disruptions this weekend
Island Air, which is in the process of selling its company, said today it will operate all its aircraft this weekend and anticipates no disruptions to its flights.
Spokesman Michael Rodyniuk said a day earlier that the carrier potentially could cancel or consolidate a total of 16 to 20 flights Saturday and Sunday because one of its Bombardier de Havilland Dash 8 aircraft was expected to be unavailable due to reaching the maximum number of flight hours or takeoff-and-landing cycles. That would require the aircraft be sidelined for heavy maintenance.
Rodyniuk said today that the Island Air team “has worked hard to find a solution. “We will be operating at full strength this weekend and growing thereafter,” added Rodyniuk, who was unavailable for further comment.
Island Air President Les Murashige said “it will be business as usual.”
