Medical Examiner’s report finds Moiliili todder died of head injuries

A 2-year-old boy who was fatally struck by a sport utility vehicle in Moiliili Wednesday died of head injuries, according to the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office. 

Filimone Asi died of cranial cerebral injuries after he was struck by a Toyota RAV4 on a sidewalk area in front of his home, according to an autopsy report. 

The SUV driver, a neighbor of the toddler’s family, was taking her daughter to school when she reversed out of her driveway located in a private lane on Kapiolani Boulevard near Kaaha Street. Police said she then drove forward when the vehicle struck the child who was unattended at the time. 

The manner of death was classified as an accident, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office.
