Hawaii golfers faring well at junior event
Honolulu’s Eimi Koga, Honolulu’s Rose Huang and Pearl City’s Mariel Galdiano are in the top five in their respective age divisions after the third round of the Callaway Junior World Golf Championships in San Diego. Koga is in second place at 215 in the girls 15-17 division. She is six strokes behind the leader. In the girls 13-14 division, Huang is tied for second at 210 and Galdiano is fourth at 211.
Mason, McLachlin way back in Utah
Leilehua alum Nick Mason shot a 2-over-par 73, and Punahou alum Parker McLachlin shot a 3-over 74 in the first round of the Web.com Tour Utah Championship on Thursday at Sandy, Utah. Doug LaBelle II, Brad Fritsch and Morgan Hoffmann are tied for first at 7-under 64.
Fujikawa misses cut on eGolf Tour
Honolulu’s Tadd Fujikawa shot a 1-over 72 and missed the cut by three strokes Thursday at the eGolf Tour’s Southern Open at Kannapolis, N.C. Fujikawa’s two-day total was 1-under 141. The leader is Drew Weaver, of High Point, N.C., who is at 13-under 129.
Keiley, Hattori ousted at U.S. Publinx
Haiku’s Justin Keiley and Honolulu’s Richard Hattori were eliminated in the second round of the 87th annual U.S. Public Links Championship on Thursday at Soldier Hollow in Midway, Utah. Brad Schneider, of Orlando, Fla., beat Keiley 3 and 2; and Derek Ernst, of Clovis, Calif., beat Hattori 5 and 4.
Ma, Grant lead at Barbers Point
Matthew Ma and Brent Grant are tied for the lead at 2-under-par 70 after the first round of the Barbers Point Invitational. Five golfers are one stroke back.
